It is evident that KHD cares about (and is dedicated to) the ocean environment. The depth and breadth of the staff’s background and knowledge is impressive (and good that it is posted on the website). Great job hosting underwater cleanups and participating in International Coastal Cleanup Day, in addition to formally adopting the West Hawaii Voluntary Standards and being recognized on the Manta Green List.
Great tour and excellent captain/crew/guides. All were very knowledgeable, attentive to customer needs, and conscious of guests both in and out of the water. In the water, guide was attentive to our behavior, location of the manta rays, etc. When a monk seal was spotted, our guide did not swim towards the seal and kept us at a distance.
KHD subsidizes cost of Manta Class for new crew.
Pre-snorkel/dive briefing was an important part of the tour and I was glad to see the attention that was given to educating the guests about proper behavior in the water. Good job having reference materials out and available to guests.
Great job of incorporating reduce, re-use, recycle and other sustainability measures into operations. Happy to see the use of compostable products, and avoiding the use of items like bottled water (instead, water came from cooler). Uses digital waivers (vs. paper).
Website and FAQ page have excellent information about tours. Expectations are clearly set for the tour. The blog is also a great addition, and is an important piece of pre-trip information. I encourage you to continue utilizing the blog and adding more posts about mantas, native fish, sharks (noticed the awesome tiger shark video on your Facebook page), ocean conservation, etc.
