Natural light is the primary source of light, as we operate in daylight hours only (sun-up to sun-down). Lighting for after-dark safety at the staging lot facility include LED lights, motion-sensored, and non-environment impacting illumination.
Our company operates on land leased from W.H. Rice LTD. We abide by the conservation and preservation practices set in place by the ranch owners, and also maintain our own set of preservations standards which include conservation, land management, and guest awareness of Native and Polynesian plant species in the areas where we operate.
Our landscaping is minimal, and is comprised of the natural plants found in the area, with the objective of leaving the land in its natural state as much as possible. Reuse of grey water draining from laundry and maintenance waters the surrounding landscape. Water use is minimal. Signage is posted for staff and guests. Soap or other cleaning products are environmentally friendly.
Wastewater does not need to be filtered, as it is primarily hose water use for mud removal. Green certified cleaners have the eco-friendly seal (i.e. Kirkland eco-friendly brands). Organic bug spray is offered to all guests. Use of sun protection is reviewed in advance of water encounters. No overnight activities.
Motorized vehicles are only in the “on” position when in-use, otherwise they are parked and properly stored securely. Noise pollution is isolated to operation hours in designated areas (staging lot, mechanic shop, trail use).
Vehicle capacity is maximized whenever possible based on guest reservations and headcount per tour, per day. Vehicle maintenance is performed by a dedicated mechanic team.
Our staff utilizes reusable bottles to reduce waste; our guests are provided with bottled water due to ranch water not being drinkable - these bottles are all recycled. Food for lunch tours are prepared by a caterer and served in covered catering pans, to reduce waste from individually packaging each meal. All trash and recyclables are packed-in and packed-out from the ranch, in a “leave no trail behind” effort.
A/C only utilized in small office. Natural light used for 80% or more of light source, majority of operations conducted in open-air environment. Electricity only used at staging lot for daily operations.
Fuel type is determined by the manufacturer of the off-road machines. All machines are fully serviced and maintained by dedicated mechanic team. Tour routes are designed to maximize experience while minimizing use of land and trail system; tours are scheduled to avoid congestion.
